Mask Export Ban: Please Modify The Notification

The Ministry of Commerce banned the mask export in a Notification. But that includes the ordinary face mask made of lycra.

The notification is totally reasonable if the ban covers the surgical and N-95 masks only.

Not the fashion masks which we can make with Lycra. Lycra is commonly available in the local market.

Some exporters have pending orders of this type of masks but they can’t fulfill because of the ban.

So I ask the ministry of Commerce to make an exception to this ban of mask export and exclude the ordinary masks.

Second, the government should encourage the stitching units to make these masks for the local markets.

Some of these stitching units should modify to make surgical masks as well.

This will cover the increased local need for masks and will earn considerable revenue in these hard times.
